For
some individual therapy can be a appropriate first step in the treatment
of social anxiety disorder/social phobia. Pictured above is SAM, my dog,
who is a "Therapy-Dog-In-Training." Sam frequently joins me "in
individual session" and makes just about anyplace seem just a little bit
safer and friendlier. Individuals with severe social anxiety disorder/social
phobia may find starting with group treatment too overwhelming.
As a result, it may be counterproductive to begin with group treatment and
contribute to premature termination of treatment. The most important thing
is that if you want help... you get specialized treatment for social anxiety
disorder. I offer the choice of one-on-one therapy and truly believe that
it can be very helpful part of an overall Social Anxiety Disorder Treatment
Plan... whether used prior, during or post group... depending on the client's
unique needs and situation.
So, if you are interested in individual/group treatment for Social Anxiety
Disorder I would be happy to assist you in determining what combination
of treatment options seem to make the best sense for you. I wish you well
in your journey and much success in your efforts to overcome and manage
Social Anxiety Disorder. Again, thank you for considering my
psychotherapy services.
