| Today, thankfully, there are many helpful websites directly related to social anxiety disorder/social phobia. I have listed several links below that you may find useful in your SAD recovery: | |||||
|
This is the Social Phobia/Social Anxiety Association a place where those with SP/SA can come together for information. I am a professional member of this association. A wonderful "FREE" newsletter written from the "patient's perspective". Social Anxiety Network-Social Anxiety Institute (SAI) Thomas Richards, Ph.D., Director of SAI provides a wealth of information about social anxiety disorder. In my opinion, this is one of the best websites currently available to SA/SPers. The Social Anxiety Announcement List has almost 2000 subscribers. Anxiety Disorders Association Of America (ADAA) A helpful place for getting specific information about all the anxiety disorders. You can also find therapist referrals nationwide/internationally. I am a clinical member of ADAA. Mailing List & Other SAD/SP Resources On-line SA/SP Support Group. Also has additional educational information about Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia. Social Phobia Program-Temple University This is where Richard G. Heimberg, Ph.D., is now working. Dr. Heimberg developed a specific cognitive-behavioral protocol for treating social phobia. On this website you can PARTICIPATE in current research on social phobia. While Toastmasters may not be appropriate for everyone with social anxiety it is a outstanding, inexpensive adjunct to therapy for improving communication skills.
